New LMB record in California
#1
I can't believe anyone hasn't brought this up yet.

Sadly, the bass was apparently foul hooked, so we'll see what happens as the case is reviewed.

When I lived in San Diego I used to fish Dixon lake for bucket mouths. In fact that was the lake I landed my first bass. 20 years ago there were some large fish in there even back then. Thanks for the story brings back old memories.

That one came up on the freshwater board too. There is naturally the skepticism about the legitimacy of the fish.

There was only one pic taken of it and there were no officials to verify it.

Look closely though. It does look like some beginner photo shop chop on it.[shocked]

If you read the article on ESPN.com then you will know that it is legit. There were several other witnesses other than the guy with the camera and they even have video footage which they showed a brief clip of on Sports Center last night. No photo shop here! I hope the guy gets the record!

The man that caught this fish is now not going to pursue the official record.

In a way, that is too bad, but it does make me wonder about the circumstances behind the fish being foul hooked.

Now I'm glad for the guy. I'm sure he will be able to get another one and get some better documentation/certification.

I'll bet that lake will start to get alot more fishing pressure for awhile.[cool]
