Ok, here's some pics of the carp and striper fest at Lakes Mead and Mojave. I got an itchy fishing finger the longer I stayed around these huge fish.... I so wanted to just drop a handline but I refrained....for the most part. Enjoy.

Nice catch, Riley! That warm weather must have been nice. I hope you brought some back with you to share with the rest of the class. Looks like a lot of fun, what was the guesstimate on the water temp?

Yep, there were a ton of carp in there.... and some MONSTERS too. There were a few carp at Lake Mead Marina that would have easily gone twenty pounds and probably more. Seemed like the ones at Mojave were good sized but no real giants. I actually did try to lip a carp but that was too hard and they were just too heavy for me. You guys should have seen my knuckles and my thumb... It looked like I'd been sliced with little razors all over my hands from the stripers hitting the backs of my fingers and eating on my thumb when they'd take bread out of my hand. There was a big striper that I was worried might try and take bread from me... I think it would have hurt if he came racing by and took a swipe at the bait. Polokid, you're right... i did catch those two stripers with the ol one hand grab. [cool] That was kind of a rush... I just waited until they came right up to my thumb and then lipped em. At the first marina we went to with stripers, there were some decent ones and thats where I caught the two by hand. It was pretty windy so I'm guessing water distortion had the stripers getting a little closer. The second marina was in a protected cove so the fish could see better and were a little more wary of people's hands. They would hit the back of my hands there but stayed away from my thumb for the most part... thats a bummer, because there were bigger stripers on average at that marina. [Wink]

Hey John, sorry I didn't answer your question. The second day, the temps were around 75-80 air temp and I soaked my feet off the dock while Wendy and I ate lunch. I'd guess from feel on my feet that the water temp was maybe in the low 50's but I really don't know for sure... it felt cold when I put my feet in and they turned kinda red after a while but it wasn't untolerable. I think the highest air temp was 83 while I was there but averaged 70-75 until sunset and then it dropped to a freezing 63 or so.... LOL. That reading is just based off the news there and the temp reading on the rearview mirror in her dads truck.
