Steelheading is kinda winding down for the season. Closes April 30 most places and may 15 on the Little salmon. I fish the Clearwater at Orofino and its about done. This rain lately would make for some rough fishing. Jan/feb is a lot better depending on the run.

I fished the mouth of the pahsimeroi river on the salmon 2 years ago on march 27/28 and caught 5 steelhead(extremely good for the average catches), but it had only started to get good at that time. I used roe sacks and flies that i tied. It is awesome fishing for them, but the 5 hour drive really sucks when all your fishing buddies sleep the whole time.

Beg to differ on it winding down...It's just getting heating up near Stanley, where we are headed tomorrow. It is a little later than usual this year. Steelhead rock....
