Steelheading is kinda winding down for the season. Closes April 30 most places and may 15 on the Little salmon. I fish the Clearwater at Orofino and its about done. This rain lately would make for some rough fishing. Jan/feb is a lot better depending on the run.

Salmon river is best bet, it is getting towards the end of the spring run. Here are a couple links i keep an eye on for reports http://www.idfishnhunt.com/steelrpt.htm

My dad has been up there a couple times to a little luck, but my cousin was up last weekend and they got the skunk.
Looks like the water flows are coming up but near the town of salmon and up towards the lemhi confluance all the way up to the hatchery is catching some. Hope this helps[Smile].

no problem, if you head up with your freind post us a roport. Those big ole trout are a hoot, lightning at the end of your rod.

I fished the mouth of the pahsimeroi river on the salmon 2 years ago on march 27/28 and caught 5 steelhead(extremely good for the average catches), but it had only started to get good at that time. I used roe sacks and flies that i tied. It is awesome fishing for them, but the 5 hour drive really sucks when all your fishing buddies sleep the whole time.

Beg to differ on it winding down...It's just getting heating up near Stanley, where we are headed tomorrow. It is a little later than usual this year. Steelhead rock....
