the refuge.... jeez
#1
well it was a gorgous day out at the refuge....Not even a breeze!! yay i was so exited!! exept not a single large fish.. kinda dissapointing... oh well... any way first cast i got a puny carp... maybe 2lbs,...so i cut him up for the kittys.... figured i could finally utilize my two pole permit.. i thought it was gonna be a great day... man it was slow.. i ended up with 7 " small " carp... biggest was maybe 4lbs... not usual... my buddy caught a nice 8lber but still not a "big" one... he ended up with 3 carp all the same size under 4 lbs with one 8lber... I did pick up one 14 inch cat... [unsure] on a SLAB of carp.. all in all a beutifull day... i even got a sunburn... my camera died on the 4th fish so these pics arent real great.. i liked the no wind thing... that was good.. and all of the wildlife made it fun... for some reason, my buddy was takin a bite out of a carp in one of the pics.. guess he was hungry... i would have eaten the cat myself but hey... whateva[Tongue]

[#ff4040]Looks like you guys got some good sized kittie bait out of there. I caught a bunch of that size out at Stanbury the other day and now they are sittin in the freezer waiting for some big kitty fish.[/#ff4040]

[#ff4040]At least the kitties are getting bigger everytime you go out there. A couple more trips and you'll get the bigguns.[/#ff4040]

[cool][#0000ff]Looks like a nice day to be on the water, and you made good use of it.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]At least you got some action. It is always more fun when you get to rassle a toad or two, but even small ones break the monotony. That's what I tell myself when I have to settle for few fish or small fish.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Thanks for the pics. They always add to the report.[/#0000ff]

Like Pat said, at least you guys got a few carp to beat back the skunk! Sure looks pretty! Do you think all the runoff that will start dumping into the fuge will throw off the fishing for a bit?

Hey Utcatman,

There aint nothing wrong with catching Carp - even the smaller ones. But, them catfish sure are tasty - at least you got yourself one. And, look at reducing the carp population as a public service and catfish habitat improvement project.

Which refuge are you fishing in, BRBR or FB? Are there carp and cats in both? Looks like a good time.
