Line Recommendation
#1
Hey BFTers what is a good all around line for spinning rod (ie brand, test, material) I'm not sure what line I have on now but I need to replace it. I am a newbie to spin fishing but I would like to fish for wipers, catfish trout perch, bluegill, bass so pretty much everything

Trilene XL or Power Pro braided.

[Smile] I use 8Lb line from the brand P-Line which is some of the best line you can buy. For trout and smaller fishes you could use 4Lb line but for overall fishing like cats & trouts and walleye etc, I think the 8Lb P-Line is perfect overall. For big cat fish you would need stronger line.

Fishdog said it. I use the exact same line and I love it. It is an excellent line for all around fishing.

For once Out4Trout is right. That excalibar line is the best. Strong low low memory and tuff as nalis around rocks or in a ice hole. It just works so well I have zero complaints. I use it in all types of fishing from trout to cats to wipers. It seems to be twice as strong as the rate it.Aske Mr Tubedude about this line....

Thanks for the advice. What about line strength? 8 lb test sound about right?

Too easy ...

Spinning rods usually do best with 6lb mono. For years I have used TRILENE XT Green ... NOT ... XL ... XT is awesome! I also have started to use Yozuri Hybrid. It's really tough.

If you are using a 6ft. spinning rod, go with 6lb test. Hope this helps!
