[red] I didn't know that there was a boat ramp at Smithmoorehouse. I was always under the impression that you couldn't put a boat in there?[/red]

It has a nice paved boat ramp. It has had wakeless speed restrictions; however, the current fishing proclamation doesn't mention any restrictions -- but that may be an oversight in the proclamation.

I would also like to know the conditions at Smith and Morehouse? Can you fish off the shore there now? Is the road open that goes to the canyon? I actually have never fished there either, is the fishing good at Smith and Morehouse?

No places have motor size restrictions. Some restrict to electric only, and some restrict to no motor of any kind, and one place allows float tubes only.

That's what I love about those lakes high up. You contstantly catch fish, although there small it is a blast. I enjoy those lakes more than any others in Utah. I only keep some fishys if I am camping. So you said this time last year you were fishing up there huh. I think I will check it out this Sunday!! Its not that far from the SLC. Thanks

So I called the Kamas USFS Ranger and was told that Smith and Morehouse is shut down, the road is closed and you cant fish up there right now. The road through the Uintas is the same. So dont go up there unless you want to go for a nice drive only to have to turn around when it starts getting good[Smile][cool]

[#002850] Here are some good directions from the Ogden area. If you are coming from the Salt Lake area, check on a road map to see best where to start from.

These directions can be found over on the BFT Utah Fishing Holes board.[/#002850]

Smithmorehouse is a small lake with excellent campgrounds at each end of the lake. It is a pretty lake and is located maybe 15 miles East of Oakly. I've never fished the lake but have stayed in the campgrounds during the Fall hunting season. Watch your speed going up the canyon East of Town as the speed limit I believe is only 45 MPH, and I have seen "Officer Friendly" parked in the bushes several times. It does have a nice paved boat ramp for launching, and is large enough to accommodate several vehicals at a time. The graveled road going back to the lake runs along the entire West side of the lake and usually well maintained when opened.
