[cool][#0000ff]No recent reports from around the pumphouse. The water is ripping out of the lake right now, so the river part is probably hard to fish and potentially dangerous for small kids.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]There is the big slackwater area to the west of the pumphouse that produces lots of fish for shore anglers. Nice parking and restrooms for the kids. Might be worth a try. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Otherwise, you need to walk the banks of the river, looking for protected eddies where the fish can get out of the heavy current. There's no doubt the fish are in the river. It just takes some looking to find a good hole.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]Yep. There is a road that goes south off Hwy 73, on the west side of the river. Sounds like you are familiar with it.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I have stopped there several times to talk with folks sitting in their lawn chairs and they usually have some cats or white bass. Probably a lot more pleasant and safe for the younguns than fishing off the banks of the river.[/#0000ff]

thats the area i was attempting to refer to anyway. ive taken the kiddos there a lot and when they get bored or annoying i swend em to the toys and call them back when its time to let em reel in a fish. it works double duty on the kids entertainment level........plus ive seen some pretty nice channels come out of there so it keeps me on my toes too......

What is the fishing like if you anchor up in front of the pumps (lakeside). Any hazards to the boat. Thanks

[cool][#0000ff]You will need a good anchor, because the bottom is fairly smooth and the current is strong. But, the fishing can be good.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I used to fish it a lot from my float tube, when access from shore was easier. I would launch is slack water and kick out to a spot where I could cast upstream into the flow, with a big black marabou jig. I let it bounce down the current and caught lots of fish.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Post spawn walleyes often set up there to ambush white bass, bullheads and other smaller fish being drawn out of the lake by the flow. There are almost always some white bass and often some big channel cats.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I have also fished it from a boat by anchoring far enough away from the mouth (where the current is strongest) to make anchoring easier. Then you can just lob a sliding sinker rig downstream and let it rest on the bottom in the current. Best fishing is often right on the edge of the current.[/#0000ff]

Ive been to the pumphouse twice over the last two weeks. I fished in the Jordan River on the north side of the bridge directly in front of the pumphouse. I dont know what that road is called, and I did not have much success. But the river was moving fast, it was really muddy and I probably should have gone west of the pumphouse to the are Tubedude is reffering too. Me and my buddy's caught one cat and a white bass while we were there.

[cool][#0000ff]I thought I already answered that question a couple of posts back. You can anchor either just to the side of the current and cast upcurrent and let your jigs bounce down past you...or you can anchor in the current and fish downstream.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]There are often lots of fish there, especially big walleyes in June, post spawn. Almost always some white bass and channel cats.[/#0000ff]

That spot is great for the kids and easy access to the truck...I have taken many channels over the last few years many topping the 10 lb mark and the biggest being 16 lbs. Fishing is pretty consistent for bullhead, white bass, crappie, and some huge sunfish. I even pulled a 21" walleye out in the same spot. My brother has taken a couple good sized largemouth bass in the stretch between the two parking lots, one pushed 4 lbs. I was there last week at night and caught 4 bullheads in the 45 minutes I had to fish. It wasn't the fastest fishing but the fish are there! Have fun!!
