I over heard some guys talking today about a a muskie that was caught the other day in the ogden river. All I heard was that some young kid caught a 40"+ muskie out of the river 7 miles below the dam. One of they guys said that he had talked with a DWR guy, and they were talking about shocking the cannal that feeds willard. He's thinking that they may be heading to willard as well.
Have any of you all heard about this? What do you think, could the muskies make it into willard? I guess its possible but I don't know how likely though.

The perch and smallmouth bass that are in WB came from Pineview. I would expect that there are a few Tigers in WB already. Maybe they'll chew up a few of those carp.

smallmouth were into to willard when it opened about 30 odd years ago dont no about the pearch though we were catching smallies out when pineview was a blue ribbon trout fiherie.

heck it was 40 odd years ago i forgot my age. my neighbor caught a 36 inch tiger iragating his onions. we have dead trout over the debre skreens all the time in the summmer. but i think its purty slow fishing. woodpile a fellow bfter has caught a few browns out of the channel at willlard.

I dont know about them gettin out to willard, with the body on a muskie they dont handle high current very well but nothing is impossable. I know last year with the runoff so high some made it downstream into the ogden hangin out right behind my house in the slow water along the bank. I'd hate to hear of em gettin into Willard though.

I got married at the MTC learning park on Monroe and about 17th in May of 2002. I was fly fishing in the river right at the parking lot(while my wife was rehearsing fo the wedding) and i came up on a 15-18" musky sitting right next to the bank. It made me take a minute and think about what i saw. I have caught huge perch in the deep pool right below the first bridge from pineview. I also heard rumors that Bill Furnace was catching big musky's right below Wall Ave. and the ogden river by Northern Exposure. That was the same year i saw the one at the park. As for trout in willard, i have personally seen two very nice rainbow trout about 24" caught at the second set of ladders at the inlet. Who knows what is in where anymore!

I saw the article in the Standard yesterday, that was one happy kid.
I don't remember who posted the report but a couple of years back someone on this site reported catching a tiger muskie in Willard or someone he knew caught one. I had a thought, if someone catches a muskie and its not in Pineview, do you think it will still need to be 40 inches to keep? Myself, I would think not.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. Fish like to explore, and it wouldn't be too far fetched for some fish to go over the spillway. Heck last week a buddy caught a 17" bow out of Willard. I've also seen a couple browns that were caught from the inlet. I'd like to hook into a 40" muskie!

[size 1]Curt, the state-wide general rule for tiger muskies is "1 fish over 40 inches" . Because the Ogden river doesn't have any special regulations on tiger muskies the general 40 inch rule would apply.[/size]

OK, I thought it only applied to Pineview. Even though the article said the muskie that the kid caught was 40 inches, I figured it was probably an inch or two short. I'm sure the kid had no idea about the size restriction and to keep him from getting into trouble the paper said it was 40 inches. It was still a great story, kind of like those 20 lb browns that people would catch years ago in the Ogden river.

and was probably 8lbs and i saw another one caught by my lil bro fishin for carp with crawlers... it was around 25 inches and probably 3lbs or so... my freinds dad said he used to catch them down there in numbers 8 yrs ago....
