I was in the Abajo Mountains on Thursday May 4th. I took the gorgeous drive up there that takes off from Highway 211 outside of Canyonlands National Park. Amazing views.
I didn't have time to wet a line, but thought it would be useful to report that it's all snow and ice free. Foy Lake looks good, and Monticello Lake was practically boiling on the surface with little fishies.
Both campgrounds on that side (Buckboard and Dalton Springs) are open. Buckboard was completely empty, and Dalton had 2 people in it.
Does anyone have any more info about these mountains? Have you fished them further south? Any good hikes up there? PM me if you'd like.
