Best chance for trout from the shore?

Howdy folks, I need some recommendations.

With the uncertanty of the water levels in the Ogden River right now I've decided not to fish it this weekend. So I'm looking to hit a lake from the shore in hopes to catch some nice trout. I dun picked up a new BBQ recently and I've yet to throw some fish on it, and I'm hoping you all can help me out. So far I've been skunked this year at Jordanelle and Silver Lake Flats when targeting trout from the shore, using the standard baits (PB and worms).

Where should I take the wife on Sunday so that we can break in the new grill with some lemon buttered trout upon our successful return?

I've never fished Strawberry, is that a good place from the shore? I know a lot of tubers and boaters have success there. I'm all ears, tell me where you think I should go.

I would give lost creek a try. There are some nice trout in there. Standard baits along with spinners or rapalas should score you some fish. Good luck, and have fun!

[#0000ff]If you don't mind a drive, thing Yuba. Quite a few BIG trout coming from the shore down there on power bait right now. I'm headed down there tubing tomorrow morning and will post a report.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you are looking for fish for the grill, Strawberry might not be your best choice. Not many cutts outside the slot and rainbows are scarce. Scofield or Electric Lake might be better bets.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Heard tell there are some rainbows showing up off the bank near the PWC launch ramp at Jordanelle. Also quite a few smallies in close.[/#0000ff]

Now, the question is, how do I get to, what seems to be, a road along the side of it?

I don't want to make the same mistake I did when going to Jordanelle and trying to fing a shore fishing spot that was easily accessable. Never doing that again, I still have scars from all the sage brush.

[cool][#0000ff]South on I-15 to 8th North in Orem...sign says Provo Canyon/ Sundance. Go east up through Provo Canyon and across the dam (road closed 10 PM to 6 AM). Continue around the lake, past the State Park marina at the mouth of Walsburg Bay. There will be two turnouts to the left that have parking areas (no fee) from which you can follow an easy trail down to the shoreline. Good protected fishing even in most breezy conditions.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you continue around the lake, the road leaves the lake for a ways and then comes back in at Rainbow Bay. Often some good shore fishing here, but it is a fee area (unless you have the yearly pass).[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Next, you will see a building and launch ramp at the Island launch area. Again, this is a state park fee area, but if you go past the entrance a ways you will see a turnoff on the left and a small amount of parking. There is an open access through the fence for anglers. Find a spot to fish along the shoreline and chuck it out.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I would recommend Walsburg for bankin' but there can be good fishing almost anywhere along the shoreline if the fish are around.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you are up for a "stroll", you can go clear around past the Provo River inlet bridge, into Midway. Turn left and drive around to the last parking area at the Heber Creeper stop. Hike the tracks up a mile or so and fish the steep rocky shoreline. Good lure casting here for rainbows and browns. Sometimes some decent smallies and wallies too.[/#0000ff]

AT DC THE PROVO INLET KICKS OUT A BUNCH OF BOWS AS WELL. GO PAST THE ISLAND AND TAKE THE FIRST LEFT FOLLOW IT TO BRIDGE.

If I was fishing from the shore I would either head up to currant creek or Trial Lake. You can catch fish year round from shore at either place.

Cold Springs Trout Farm in North Ogden. The fishing and catching are always good.[]
If it were me, i would head to the Uintas and fish the lakes along Mirror Lake hwy. It is much cooler up there and very beautiful. Plus they are stocked heavily with decent trout.

If you really wanna catch fish you can try e-lake its kinda hard to get skunked there unless pepe lepeu shows up and sprays you personally.All you really need is a worm and marshmellow combo or a bobber.I only use spoons red and white that way i dont have to keep everything me and the family catches.I like the dam area because theres never no one there. I am headed over there saturday for some trout so i can make some jerky.Good luck wherever you go.
