#1
[red]Natalie, Bryan, his 5 yr old Chandler, and I took off from the Crystal Lake T.H. on Friday afternoon heading for Duck Lake. Made it in before night fall. Beautiful scenery the entire way in. We made it in set up camp and was able to do a bit of fishing before heading off to bed. Stayed until Sunday afternoon before packing out. Here is some pictures from the trip. [/red]

The brook trout out of Duck Lake averaged between 12-14 inches. Nice fish. The fish from Beaver were you standard Uinta 8-9 inchers. Didnt see a sole till we left, had a deer coming right in to camp on Sat night while we sat for dinner. Temperatures were nice and fishing was red hot on silver spinners![/red]

Rob, it looks like you had a really nice outing. Got to love that beautiful scenery, fast fishing and solitude with friends and family.

Sure looks like an awesome trip Rob! Nice pics. I love it up there. I've not had the chance to fish Duck lake yet, but it sounds like I ought to give it a try!

IMO, the skeeters up there are twice as small as the ones at Willard, but bite twice as frequently![unsure] I got ate up! The horse flys were out in full effect also.

Nice job! How is the hike up to Duck lake? I went over to Whitney yesterday sort of slow fishin but did manage a nice 15" brook. Like to try a hike in fishin trip some time.

As for a the hike into the area we were at, it is alot easier than alot of trails in the Uintas. While still difficult, especially with a 50 lb pack on, it still was managable. You actually loose 600 feet in elevation from T.H. to Duck Lake. Buy gain about a thousand at the summit of the trail before dropping in. I did some research and found out that Marjorie Lake up there is an excellent greyling lake!!! Never fished it though.

Polo,
Marjorie is a great graying lake, but they were pretty small. A large one was about 9" and they averaged about 7". Almost a fish on every case though. Pot Lake up there is also good for brookies besides Weir. Did you try that one? That is my very favorite trail in the Unitas. Gotta hit Marjorie once/year just to say I caught grayling. Anyway, looks like a good trip.

Didnt see much action going on at Pot Lake! No surface action and couldnt see any fish in the lake or inlet or outlet. I didnt find out about the grayling situation at Marjorie until we got home yesterday.[Sad] We only fished Beaver lake and Duck lake. The fish in Duck Lake were good sized, but not as cooperative as Beaver Lake. I will have to head back up to Marjorie in the next couple of months. I want to catch a grayling just to say i did!!!
