I was going to make the yearly trip over to Pelican about a month ago...but didn't. My schedule is a bit freer now, so I'm thinking I might still make the pilgrimage, even in the dang-hot heat.
I'm thinking I may hit the water possibly mid-week, before the July 4th crowds, though I'm not sure if Pelican is a popular Independence Day destination.
Anywho...if anyone has fished it recently or has any warm-temperature recommendations for Pelican Lake largemouth, I'd appreciate them. I would assume that both the bass and 'gills have moved into deeper water with the hotter temps.
I believe it was two years ago that I hit Pelican in early July, and the bugs were horrible. I believe I still was able to locate largies around flooded, submerged vegetation using plastics and cranks, but if I remember they had moved away from the shallows around the shoreline.
I am fairly familiar with how to fish Pelican. I'm just looking for a bit of extra mental and tackle artillary if the fish aren't as willing to play as they are in late May/early June.
Thanks for your help.
