WILLARD BAY WIPER
#1
My son was fishing Willard Bay on Friday and picked up a 25 in Wiper. I had to work so I didn't get to join him. He didn't have a camera or a way to measure the fish, so he brought it home where we measured it at 25 inches but it only wieghed 4 1/2 lbs. This is the first one we have caught out there that was skinny. I feel it should have went at least 6 lbs. or better. I'll try to up load an attachment with the picture of him and his fish.[Smile]

That is a huge wiper!!! Congrats. Too bad it wasn't obese, you could have had a potential record fish.(i think?) Anybody want to chime in on that?

LH2 , actually I think the current record is 26 inches in length and weighed 6lbs. 11 oz. A friend of mine holds the current catch and release at 23 1/2 inches according to this year's proclamation, but I have heard that that was broken this spring. My son was happy anyway. He was using a slip bobber with a jig and night crawler fishing for cats along the dike when he caught it.[Smile]

man-o-man,
That is a nice looking Wiper, nothing to turn your nose up at...
What did your boy toss at him to get him in the boat?
Nice fish, keep up the posts Packfan they are always fun to see and read.

Hey Packfan, too bad you had to "work". That is a fine wiper that your son caught. Looks like you taught him well. I sure would like to hook into a pig like that wiper. Did it put up the usual fight?

Thanks for the report PACKFAN. It's nice to hear that the Wipers are starting to boil, I have to get up there soon. That is one hog Wiper your son caught, hope to see you on the water soon. John R.[Smile][Smile]

This weekend the wife and I will be spending our holiday in Idaho Fishing Anderson Ranch Dam for Kokanee. The waters seem to be a little friendlier up there over the holidays (not so many skiers). You all have a great weekend and make sure to keep utahsteelhead in the loop on Willard. I'm sure he is not looking forward to this holiday.[Tongue]

Actually, I am looking forward to it because I will be out on the boats for almost all of it. I'll try and keep it as safe as possible.
