Now if the CT. River would clear up from mud, maybe I can chase some fluke. Good Luck Tom and to all this weekend,

Arrrrr Matey!!!!!!!!! I'll also be chasing some "fluke." And if I hit the tide right, i'll try for some sheepshead at the jetties.

I haven't seen the ocean in about 3 or 4 weeks, so I don't even know if the mullet are running yet, if the Menhaden are out and about, or anything. I'm hoping the mullet will be out so I can cast net a few. If I get some mullet or some small menhaden, i'll sneak outside the mouth of the jetties and sling out a live bait on a float. Maybe a snake king or the spanish and blues will be interested in a game of tag. [cool]

[cool]I'll be fishing for migratory sand bass on the Huntington Flats in Southern California. When the daytime highs in our area go over 100 degrees, you can be sure the sand bass spawn--thanks to warming waters--will be off the hook. I'll probably take a twilight sportfishing boat out of Long Beach Sportfishing. There's a great take-out seafood restaurant next to the tackle shop, plus live musical entertainment while you wait for the boat--The Native Sun--to arrive. The fishing will be slow at first, but when the sun goes down, all the rods on the boat will go bendo almost at the same time. The bait of choice will be anchovies(best), cut squid(2nd best), and live sardines(3rd best). And if the sand bass go crazy, the plastic shad imitation lures--Kalin, Storm, AAA, etc.--will work exceptionally well. The next morning will feature a tasty breakfast of sand bass filets dipped in Matzo meal, fried to a golden brown, put between two pieces of sourdough bread, and topped off with Trader Joe's Tartar Sauce. There may be better ways of spending July 4--and the morning after--but I haven't been informed.
