sheep creek bay is good for bait soaking on rainbows. but after you are done with jim your gona be beat. yr back and sholders and even yr brain are wipped. unless the dreaded wind cuts your day short. ive been up 2 times with jim and took poles to night fish both times, they never saw any action. ps jim was seirios when he told you to bring excadrin.... take it.... and get some good rest the night before your trip. being sharp is a must jigging mac,s. follow instructions to the letter and you will be one of the smiling face on his web site. garenteed!!!!

We'll likely be done by 2-3 o'clock, and its light till nearly 10. Bring some light spinning stuff (6 lb. class), and some very small diving crankbaits and 1/8/ to 1/16 oz. tube jigs (or curly-tails or 4" plastic worms) in a dark color, and then you can take a short nap and catch some smallies from shore during the last couple hours of light, weather permitting. I'm guessing you'll be wore out from jigging after 6 or 7 hours, but you never know how long we'll have calm water around here, and some guys never get tired even fishing into mid-afternoon.
See ya Thurs. Morning! [signature]

what determines when you are done for the day? is it just wind and the bite? what if a client wanted to keep fishing, even when it has slowed down? some of my best fish have come after the bite slowed way down? how do you make the decision? or do your clients make that decision? just curious. thanks, bkidder

Every day is different. Lightning will be in control the next couple days. Wind is nearly impossible to see a hit and set a hook for most guys I take, and thats IF I can hold the boat on fish and they can make a perfect presentation in the wind (almost never!). When someone not experienced with jigging on this lake for these fish goes several hours without a hit, and is tired from hours of fishing to begin with, the chances of them setting the hook in time when they finally do get a hit is slim and none. When the odds are very low, and we've had good fishing most of the day, its time to "know when to say when." I'd say I average about 6 -8 hours most days when the weather cooperates. I'd also say most days my customers are dragging by the time we hit the boat ramp. If someone is fishing hard, there's no way it can be done non-stop from sunrise to sunset. If you go out and take it easy and pace yourself to last all day, you aren't gonna catch as many, and I'm talking educated fish over 15 lbs., not the pups. Also, the bite is in the morning most days. I can catch far more fish by focusing hard, constantly, every second for 4 or 5 hours in the morning than taking it easy for 12.
