Finally the Jordan's kicking
#1
The Jordan's dropped about 2' where I fish it primarily. It's turned off the mud cats big time. But, for everything else, it's seemed to really kick-start things.

The White bass. Oh my good golly the White bass!!! Last three days I've nailed litterally 150 Whities. Little guys, mostly 8" or below, but still fun on an ultra light with 4# line. Pitching jigs, mostly 1" yellow curltails or micro tubes. Cool when two fish bite on the two jigs. Then they really pull good. They are in there slurping smaller fish. Kinda like a boil, but not quite that ferocious.

The channels are turning on somewhat as well. Last night around dark I hooked one that went around 10#'s. Nice 28-30" fish to say the least. I haven't tried all that much for them(The whites are a little too entertaining.) That fish bit in the last 20 minutes or so I fished.

The carp... Wow. I haven't tried for them at all, but I've still caught 10 on my White bass rigging. A couple were accidentally snagged, but most of them slammed it.

Fun fishing to say the least. Now, the people that have been fishing down there are another story entirely. I've called the DWR at least 5 times. One group of them has been down there catching well over a limit of catfish(once it was an entire 5 galon bucket full of little mudcats), then their taking them home and feeding them to pigs.[Sad] I've heard that from multiple places, too. I've seen a lot of people using two poles. Snagging cat fish on top of the water. Coming right up with a can of beer(which is illegal along the trail) in hand and cast in over my shoulder. Dropping said can of beer on bank. Dropping 12 pack boxes, cans, worm containers and other assorted trash on the bank. FISHING WITHOUT A LICENCE.[Sad][Sad][mad] I'm to the point right now I wanna kick some major butt down there. And, here's the kicker, I haven't seen the DWR show up once after I've called. Is it me, or do they not care? Maybe next time I should just call the police, that way they can see the infractions and get the DWR out there.

Oh well, done ranting now. Finally got the camra back. Thank the big man for warentees. Here's a couple pictures.

Sounds like you've really been puttin' the hurt on the fishies! Nice work. Cool pic of the double as well.

It's too bad those people aren't getting in trouble for such blatent ignorance of the law. Perhaps one day they'll get what they deserve!

Thanks. I've really had it with those people. Chances are tonight I'll have another call into the DWR. Hopefully they'll respond finally...

I'm not sure where you are fishing the Jordan. But if it is in SLC then call the local police. They will respond faster than the DWR. If your in the county call the sherriff. What will happen when they show up is they will ask you to ID the offender(s). The question them and if they find a violation call the DWR to enforce the regs. That has been my experence with this situattion.
