Hey guys need some help. I am taking my daughter in law and 3 grankids out in the boat fishing sturday the 8th of July. This will be the first trip out with the kids since my son died. They love to fish but as with all little ones no patience. I want them to catch fish they dont care what. Their Mom doesnt want to go to Utah lake. Any suggestions. I used to take kids after perch but they are getting harder to find these days. Any help would be appreciated

Yuba has plenty of perch in the 4-7 inch range but that all have to be released. Find the reeds east of the dam and fish about 15-20 feet deep and about 2 cranks off the bottom with a worm and they will have all the action they can handle.

Mantua is a good option. There are more bluegill near the shore than they would know what to do with. It is free to launch and park and a good place for kids.
Use very small jigs or just jig heads with a tiny piece of worm under a bobber about 6' from shore. If you don't want to hurt the ones you throw back just pinch the barb and they will fall off. Good luck. Hope this helps.

I also suggest Mantua. The children will catch fish, no way they can't. As was mentioned, parking and launching is free.
Also for the little ones, the campground next to the ramp has the best penny candy selection in the state of UT.

I'll also throw my vote in for Mantua. If that is too far a drive for you, Yuba is also a great option...just can't keep the little perchies...yet! Good luck, and I hope you guys have fun.
