[cool]Good point, ocean. The walleye reports have really been few and far between this year from Utah Lake. There were a few during the Spring, but the past month or two...NADA.

[cool][#0000ff]There have been a few walleyes caught since the spawn, but not like there should be. Normally, June is wide open with big post spawn walleyes hitting minnows, worms, carp meat and any kind of lures. This year...mighty skinny pickins.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Two possible scenarios. One, the spawn for all the other fish has been good so there is plenty of food for the walleyes and they are just not hungry. Two, the higher water has them more spread out in more areas so they are not jammed up in only a few good areas.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The third possible scenario...one I have heard mentioned from several semi-knowledgeable anglers...is that many of the skinny stressed-out hungry walleyes didn't make it through the end of the drought and into more abundant times.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I am hoping to really do a through pursuit on them beginning about mid September. It is getting too warm for serious walleye chasing in Utah Lake right now. You can take them by bouncing a crawler rig or fishing at night, but daytime walleye-chasing is usually not too good once the water gets much over 70 degrees.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The good news is that more folks are catching white bass now and a lot of them are large and healthy.[/#0000ff]

some times small fish hit a big lure moore to chase it out of their spot. other times they are wanting the feed. yr call. ive caught a bunch of 8 inch walleyes on j13,s and j18,s at dc. for eyes its great in july. fish the weed lines after sundown with said lures. and hold rods tight... they dont hit the regular walleyes do. at night they crush it and run line off quick. even the smaller fish take line. just dont fish the full moon...

I pretty much quit chasin' eyes after May. I caught a few dinks but nothing to brag about. Good question, I was wondering the same thing. Last year I slayed 'em out at UL but not this year.
I'm glad it's not only me. I got a little discouraged but Willard's walleye this year has made up for it.

Where have you heard that the white bass are biting? I've heard from several BFT'ers that they're done for the year.

[cool][#0000ff]White bass bite good all summer. They are scattered around the lake right now, feasting on baby carp and other minnows from this year's spawn...including their own.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Walleye are tough to find and catch now, because they are cold water fish. But, the whites are active and catchable all year. It is rare to go fishing for catfish, with any kind of bait, that you don't catch at least a couple of white bass. They hit the same worms, carp meat or minnows you fish for cats. Those who are good with plastics or spinners can load up when they find schools of whities right now. Some guys troll for them with two shallow running silver crankbaits and can catch fish all day long.[/#0000ff]

[cool]What whoever it was that told you the whities were "done for the year" meant was, that the SPAWN was over. When the white bass spawn, they do it at, in, and around the inlets to Utah Lake, so what the dude that told you that probably meant was that the fish aren't as easy to "corner" or whatnot, because they aren't all mostly concetrated at the rivers/creeks/ditches that enter the lake.
As TubeDude said, they are catchable all year long. They are almost always hungry, you just have to find them, and there's not as many in the lake as there were 3-5 years ago...The drought and heavy subsistance harvesting beat up their numbers pretty good.
