Hit willard today out of the s. marina with Lil' Lunkerhunter and Yper about 8:30 am. Started off at the Island and Yper nailed a 17"eye within 10 minutes. Ten minutes later LLH caught 2 nice catfish on a worm harness less than 5 minutes apart. 2 more small cats and we ran to the feedlot area and tried trolling to no avail.
After running the new boat hard for about an hour and taking it all in(the thought of mobility and speed) we headed to the south end to try our luck. Yper hooked up almost immediately on a chart. Wiggle Wart but the fish unbuttoned as fast as it hit. Nothing else until we were almost to the marina and all hell broke loose! There were boils, fish, and birds everywhere. We tried to get to them as fast as we could but most only lasted 10 seconds or so. We did get to one that was about 100 yds. across and get 2 casts between seagull feathers and hungry wipers. I hooked up instantly on a nice 20"er and while LLH was reeling him in Yper hooked up with his twin. After that boil, it stopped as fast as it started. We saw no more over the next hour, and decideed to count our chickens.
All fish were released to their respective areas(some in the water, some in the cooler) unharmed. The boat runs great and the fishing wasn't bad so i guess it was a beautiful day to be on the water.[cool]
P.S. The Island no longer has a bouy so it is harder to find without a gps. Kastmasters and small cranks were the boil bait of choice.
