my buddy called last friday and asked i i wanted to run to Joe's Valley for the weekend..
how could i turn down a trip to one of my favrite places to fish and camp?
well i could not turn it down even tho the wife got realy bent about it.. lol
so me and 2 of my boy's loded up the tent and boat and off we went.. got to Joe's valley about 4:00 in the after noon..
got camp set up and headed down to the lake.. my boy's wanted to stay at camp and play, so it was just me and my buddy the first night.. well we got down to the lake around 5:30 and sat in the truck for the next hour or so waiting for the Lighting and rain to slow down some..
ok fineley we got the boat in the water and fishing.. we trolled for the next 3 hours or so and cought around 5 or 6 small splake and 1 small cutt.. so we bagged it for the night..
next day my boy's went with me and my buddy put his boat in the water.. they were going trolling down the east side.. we were going jigging down on the north end.. so we set out to find the brake line over on the north end.. there's a place i know of out there where it's 30 feet deep for a long way then it drops off to about 45 feet real fast.. we set ancer there and started jigging..
WOW what a good choice on our part.. the splake and cutt's were stacked up there from top to bottom.. we started out with tube jig's tommy had a 2" glow tube.. robert had a 2 smoke tube.. and i was useing a 4" black and white tube..
it did not matter much what tube you had on tho! or even had a tube on at all.. as long as it had some chub on it you would catch a fish..
now the bigger fish we caught were on the tube jig's. but as my boy's found out after the fish riped there tube's off the hook they still cought fish so no need to change..lol
well we cought around 20 to 30 fish in the 3 hours we were there and the rain clouds were starting to get with it again.. so we went in to do some brunch and see if the rain was going to pass or get nasty like it did the day before..
well as we were cooking brunch my buddy came back over to see how we did.. they only cought 5 fish trolling that morning.. and thought they were doing good!! lol
but i had to burst his bubble.. and said we must have cought around 50 to 60 fish out jigging the brake..
so he was of corse doutfull of our fish count and wanted prof!
so after brunch and the rain moved out some we hit it again.. but this time i went about 50 yards west of the spot me and the boy's fished in the morrning.. fish were stacked up good but did not want to hit as good as they were that morrning.. but we did manage to catch about 40 fish in 3 hours for the 6 of us..
well the boy's had been in the boat as long as they could stand it.. or as long as i could stand it.lol one of the two..
so droped them off at the shour to explore the area.. at this time i got the ultalight out and started makeing bait for the evening fishing..
well after about 2 hours of running around the boy's came back and said they were ready to fish some more.. lol
well we went over to the same area as in the morrning and got ancered up on the brake.. but this time we could not get the ancer to set and hold.. so we keep moveing off the spot.. so my buddy came over and we put 2 ancers down over the spot..
that did the trick we were set right on top the brake..
fishing was fast the rest of the day.. fast as you could get the bait down you had a bite. or something was wrong.. with the 6 of us we must have cought around 60 to 70 fish that night.. alot of the fish my boy's cought were one that just would not let go!
by that i mean the fish would grab the bait and just would not let it go tell you tryed to pull them out of the water..lol then they would open up and let go.. and the funny thing was if you droped it back to them they would turn around and hit it again.. lol realy fun for the boy's to watch them do that.. and alot of times we would see 2 or 3 fish fallow a cought fish up trying to take the jig out of the mouth of the cought fish..
great fun with the boy's at J-V..
got some pic's not many tho to much rain most the time..
