Tony Grove report 7-8
#1
Took a little family camping trip to Tony Grove yesterday. If you guys remember a couple of years ago they pretty much drained the lake for work on the dam, well that work is now finished. The lake is still very low, as they were a little late in finishing the project, and they missed the runoff, so it won't fill this year. We talked to the Forest Service people, and they said they have started restocking the lake as of last week. Not sure how many fish they will put in this season, but it looks like things will be improving in the next couple of years. I tried fishing for a bit, but couldn't really get anything to hit. I was confined to the bank, and that may have been contributing to the lack of catching! It was a nice trip, and it is beautiful country up there. The camera batteries died, so I didn't get any pics this time around.

Thanks for the update Brandon, too bad the catching wasn't any good for you but it sounds like that might change later in the year. At least you got a chance to get out with the family and enjoy the scenery.

[red][size 3]Many Thanx for the update. We were thinking of heading up there for a day or two and will plan to enjoy the scenery at Tony Grove for a minute or two and then hightail the mountain bikes and fishing poles over to White Pine instead.[/size][/red]

Thanks for the report. I fished it about 6 years ago and was not impressed with the fishing, but the scenery was well worth the trip. I also got to listen to bagpipes for the better part of an hour. That was cool![Smile]

We talked to some people that had been to White Pine, and they said the fishing was OK. I'm sure it was better than TG. Good luck and have fun.

I have heard that Tony Grove has 100% winter kill every year. Does anyone know if this is a fact?
