New To The Tube.
#1
Hello all. I just recently bought my first tube (TU Togiak,) and so far I love it. I am getting alot of good advice, along with some even better ideas on how to make my tube better. I decided to try tubing due to there being so many places around where I live, not being easily accessable by boat. I can say that the fishing is better, and alot of times I see no one else while I'm fishing. I am also an avid tinkerer, so tubedude might be getting a call from my wife asking about my sudden pvc fetish. Oh well, she knows she married a lunatic. Just wanted to say Hi to everyone in the tube section, and let you know that another has entered the ranks. Got to go, my pvc should be dry by now. [Wink]

Trying my luck at a two rod holder. Looks pretty good, but is it functional? I will test run it, and post some pics. I really love this section BFT. I was a member of another site where everyone wanted to argue about everything. More bickering than fishing. Everyone on here is friendly, and helpful. I just might have found me a new home.

[black][size 3]Although we all don't always agree on everything, our little community here is about fishing - and that's it. Most of the folks here are the kind of people that are more interested in talking about fishing than anything else. Yeah, we all have our own opinions, but that's not something that should get in the way of talking about fishing - is it ? [/size][/black]

[black][size 3]BTW - What part of Missouri are you in ? I grew up in Mo.[/size][/black]

[cool][#0000ff]Allow me to add my welcome to the others. Always love to see the decline and fall of another foolish floater. The Togiak is a good craft and should serve you well.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You could not be located in a better state for our brand of fishing. Besides lots of big lakes and rivers there are countless small lakes and ponds that are often not fishable except from a tube or toon...or kayak. That makes it great not only for fishing but for solitude and nature watching. Nothing like a lot of motor noise and exhaust fumes to take the edge off a quiet daybreak trip.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Have fun with the PVC. As you have no doubt discovered, there are lots of pics and posts on different options for crafting rod holders and other "necessities" from that white tubing. Your only limitations are your creativity and the total amount of weight you add to your floatation with the add-ons.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Hey, you are also in the Bass Pro Shop state. Do you live anywhere near the main location?[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Again, welcome aboard and we look forward to seeing some posts of your voyages.[/#0000ff]

Hey All, Thanks for the warm welcome. I live in Cape Girardeau, MO. right on the Mississippi. I work as a river boat capt. on that river. When the boat is docked, I get to do a little fishing on the side. Not a bad deal. Tube Dude, I live about 4.5 hours from Bass Pro headquarters. We go there about once a year. A little bit of a bonus to a family vacation in Branson, or Table Rock Lake. We also have one in St. Charles, MO. and one just opened in Memphis, TN. I guess you could say that Bass Pro has me surrounded. Not a bad spot to be in. We also have a Gander Mt. about an hour and a half away. It just so happens that GM is right next to Chuckie Cheese, Which also works to Dads advantage. I always tell people that I spent $800.00 at Chuckie Cheese. I get alot of strange looks at that comment, until the wife explains that I ducked (No pun intended) into Gander Mt. also. She gets a little nervous when I mention either place. Once again, Thanks for the warm welcome. I look forward to using this site regularly, and conversing with everyone. Tony

[cool][#0000ff]I have lived, worked and fished all over the country. I moved back here to Salt Lake City, UT about two years ago, after living several years in Arizona. About a year ago they opened a Cabelas store just south of Salt Lake. It is impressive, with the taxidermy, the aquariums and the total size of the store. However, many of us locals have been disappointed to discover that they do not carry some of the catalog items that we have been used to ordering online. Also, since we now have a store in Utah, we get to pay sales tax on top of shipping.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]My joke has long been that I own stock in Cabelas...but they do not send me stock certificates or dividends.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Again, welcome aboard and good fishing.[/#0000ff]

Greetings RP69. A warm welcome from the "Left Coast" as well. I was going to warn you of the addictive nature of what we like to do here but it looks like you are already hooked and none of us knows a cure. Hope you jump right in and contribute when you can. Its what makes a good board and keeps the rest of us interested. This is a spot where spinfishers, baitcasters, and flyfishers meet and get along fine because we all hang our feet in the water in some kind of tube or toon. Also bassfishers, troutfishers, bluegillfishers, and saltwaterfishers. Its a great unifier.

As an Oregonian I look forward to hearing about the MO brand of tubing.
