Silver Lake
#1
I headed up to Silver lake to try it out since there has been some success and also to escape the HOT valley. Of course the day I decide to go fishing it down pours. It was very windy and raining when I go to the lake but the rain and wind stoped about 7:30 and the water was glass. The fish were rising and I thought I was going to have a hard time keeping them off. That was not the case. I was using a fly and bubble and could not seem to catch anything. If that is not frustrating i dont know what is. I ended up catching 2 little brookies and man are they beautiful little fish. I hope to get up there again and try some new flys.

I went up to Silver Lake by Brighton last nigt and had no luck with the bubble and fly either. What did you end up catching the brookies on?

Thanks,

I ended up catching the little brookies on a caddis and also a blue winged olive. I tried a lot of little different fly.

The brookies and bows hit really well on a red copper john last year. Havent been up there yet this year, but I'd imagine they'd still hit it well. Give the smallest sized adams a try too. They always work for me.

I went back to Silver Lake last night. I was a little slower than last time but still caught about 30. Almost all were caught on my small brown leech.

Sometimes even though the fish are rising and especially if they are rising only sporadically you can catch more fish by filling your bubble clear full and fish a little deeper. Sometimes you do best right on the bottom.
