Willard Help Please
#1
It's been a month sence I've had my boat on Willard.
What is working for Walleye and Wiper now?
I understand that bottom bouncers are not doing very well, right?
How deep and what spead is best?
Thanks for the help. I will be there on Wednesday evening.

Usually around the middle of July the walleye catching really slows down and doesn't pick up until fall. As far as the wipers go, your going to need to get out and find some that are actively feeding. If you find the fish boiling, your odds will be good. Just cast into the boils with white curly tail jigs and reel as fast as you can back. If no boils can be seen, troll with standard lures in your favorite spots. If no fish are caught in 30 minutes or so, move to a new spot. If you catch a wiper don't go more than 100 yards before you turn around and go threw the area you caught the fish, unless of course you catch another fish. I've been trolling at 2.8 mph gps speed and trolling lures that go to the depth the fish are that I'm marking on my FF. I'm not sure about using a bottom bouncer but it might be worth a try. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Just got back today from fishing Willard the last 3 days. The fishing for the most was slow. In 3 days of fishing we only boated 12 wipers 4 catfish and 0 walleye. The temps were HOT 104 at the camp site in Cottonwood on Saturday. Morning surface temps on the water were 80 degrees at 6:30 a.m. by afteroon to early evening surface temps were 85-87 degrees. We marked a lot of fish and threw every thing but the kitchen sink at em with not much interest. The few boils we did see did not start untill 8:30 p.m. and were very short lived. We tried bottom bouncers with no success. Good Luck and let us know how you fared.[Smile]

Have had some luck fishing late afternoon until 930PM(make sure your Nav. lights are working) chasing boils, using small white curlytails, and 3/8 oz kastmasters.Gave up trolling, concentrated on diving birds, lot of boats in a area.Ran up on the boils quick and was ready to cast at once.

Sorry about your bad luck on Willard, I guess you didn't make it up to try for the Kokes, but with Anderson in your back yard I can see why you wouldn't have been too interested in them. It was nice seeing you on the water last Sunday and jawing with you and your brother. Take care and have a great day.[cool]

We launched the boat at about 5:00pm, just in time for a storm frount to hit us. We hung out in the bay for about half an hour before hitting the open water.
The storm must have shut down the fishing because nobody we saw including ourselves, caught anything all night.
We did see a few small boils that started about 8:00pm but they were very short.
Nothing we through at them worked last night.
I'll blame this one on the storm because it couldn't have been me![Wink]
It was very funny watching all the boats race to the small boils. They were all trying to be first to the spot. I'm surprized that there were not a few colisions between some boats, the way that they were all speeding to the same spots.
The best part of the day was the sunset that sent us all back home.
