I'm thinking about making a birthday trip in Sept (22nd-24th) down that way. At a minimum would be me, and another buddy, both in 'toons. Maybe a couple other tubers.
Does anyone know if the boat limit is still in effect, and does it affect 'toons and tubes?
Any suggestions down there for nailing some nice bass, maybe a few crappies as well?
Lastly, anyone interested in joining us? 2 nights Camping, fishing, maybe even some drinking

I called, and got an answer to my question:
There is a 70 boat limit, but it doesn't apply to 'toons and tubes. I'd actually rather fish Quail, since I won't have the possibility of too many boats and pwc's.
Looks like I might get the 22nd off...that means 2 full days on the water!

Quail Creek is definitely easier on the nerves when it comes to the so called "power squadron". Almost the whole North end is wakeless. Sand Hollow has some excellent fishing, but can get ridiculously crowded, especially on weekends. If you wake up really early and are off the water by 10 or so, it is usually fine. I haven't had nearly the same success on Quail Creek as I've had on Sand Hollow, but there are some really big bass in there, and when you do catch them it's a blast. If it were me, I'd fish them both...Sand Hollow in the morning, Quail once you've had enough of the ski boats & pwc. Good luck.
