Im going to be heading down to Jordanelle this weekend for my final fishing trip of the summer. I've never fished Jordanelle before, and would appreciate any help you could give. Places to fish, lures, baits, etc.. Im not sure yet if I will be renting a boat, or shore fishing so an suggestiong for either would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
Josh

[cool][#0000ff]Hey Josh, welcome to the board. If you go back through some recent posts, and check the FISHING ARCHIVES for Jordanelle, you should be able to get some good info.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]There are many places to shore fish around the Hailstone State Park area. You can usually pick up some trout and perch fishing from shore, with all the standard baits...power bait, worms, etc. Early and late you can often get some nice trout on lures and/or a fly and bubble rig too.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Lots of spinners and lures like the Jakes SpinALure will work. Small plastics will catch both smallmouth and perch in many spots.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If you have a boat, you can head north from the main marina and fish all around the visible shoreline. Keep looking and fishing until you find fish. Having a good sonar can be a big help. A lot of the shoreline has fish but much of it does not. You can't catch them where they ain't.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]It is still early for some of the best trolling, but you can pick up some rainbows by trolling spinners or spoons...or diving crankbaits...even plastics.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Unfortunately the weather forecast is not the best for the coming weekend. Hope you catch a break and then catch some fish.[/#0000ff]

I saw a lot of people mention the RockCliff area. Where exactly is that located at? is it only accesible by boat?
Thanks for all the information...

[cool][#0000ff]The Rock Cliffs area is another Utah State Park, at the mouth of the Provo River. It is a nice area, with the river running through it (nice stream fishing), camping and a nature area. There is a small launch ramp there, and there is quite a bit of area accessible to bank fishing, mostly off the north side of the narrow cove. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Bank fishing has not been too good there lately, but if you have a boat, you can get in there from other parts of the lake or launch right at Rock Cliffs. That requires that you drive about 6 or 7 miles back in toward Kamas on the road at the bottom of the hill between Jordanelle Dam and Heber City.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The fishing for perch, smallmouth and trout has been very good at Rock Cliffs, but you need to get at least a hundred yards or so to the south of the launch ramp. Sometimes the fishing is good along the "walls" on both the north or south sides...if you can find the right kind of points, brush or other structure to hold the fish. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Jordanelle is a great fishing lake, but it takes some time to get to know it well throughout a whole year...during both high and low water periods.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Here are some maps to give you some help.[/#0000ff]
