Lake Mead Friday Night
#1
Friday, 10/06/06- Hit the water at about 5:30pm. A big race boat tied up to the dock. Its big twin jet engines (thats right) were fired up and it left the marina. This thing had at least eight people on board and was really loud. I followed it until it blasted off and disappeared.

Wind and waves this evening! Entered Las Vegas Wash to find it loaded with shad. Filled the live wells quickly and headed for the channel to try and land a few stripers. Forced to anchor because of the wind. Three in the box by sundown, pretty slow action. Moved into Hole 33, anchored, put down underwater lights, cut up all the dead shad in the live wells for chum, and fished hard for an hour with not a single fish being caught. Moved to the tires outside the marina, set up again, and managed to hook one striper in another hour. No other boats at the tires sharing our windy night.

Sonar indicated lots of fish at each location we fished. They just did'nt want anything to do with our presentation. Plenty of shad left over to freeze for later use. A nice full moon shared its light all night. Off the water by 9:30.

Hey BaySport,

Thanks for the report. Sorry to hear you didn't have a lot of luck. You know I find that the fishing conditions are worse when it's windy like that. I mean you still catch fish but not as much. I find the best time for fishing is when the wind and water calm down at night.

Best regards,

Paul

P.S. Countdown...WE LEAVE TOMORROW NIGHT!
