With this winter weather and cold snap, any guesses on what might be frozen by Saturday?
Mantua?
I am going on Saturday to check out Red Creek reservoir by Fruitland to see if I can walk on water unless something else comes available closer than Huntington.

Even if it results in just a fishless drive I am going to Red Creek on Saturday. Strawberry is on the way there and plan on stopping to check top water temperatures. I will report when i return.

Scofield was about 75% ice free, and the ice that was there wasn't thick enough to handle a little rock. And that was Sunday. I doubt it'll be fishable for a bit. Maybe with this coldfront, but I still have my doubts.

Red Creek is about the size of a 5 gallon bucket and that froze in my back yard last night[blush] The difference between my 5 gallon bucket and Red Creek is Red has fish and my bucket doesnt, even though the fish there are "usually" planters.

I havent been to Red Lake in more years than I'd care to admit. Heck, it might be dry, dead, and gone now. But "in the day" that little puddle had plenty of planters and was a great place to keep the kiddies busy for an afternoon....

It is still around, has alot of planters and still can keep the polo"kid" entertained during the early ice season.

These temps are wonderful. A balmy 5 degrees right now at Strawberry with it not to expected to get over 30 until Monday of next week up there. Can you say ice??
I wish they had a live water temp up there. Anyone ever heard of one? I know with the Utah State parks you can get them and they are usually just a day or so old.

Diamond Mountain lakes are frozen and fishable. This includes Matt Warner, Calder and Crouse. I doubt you can get into Matt Warner without a snowmobile after the last snow, but Crouse and Calder are accessible all winter. Probably too far unless you're really jonesing for an icefishing trip.

Don, not sure that one can even reach Red Lake (up Payson Canyon) any longer (assuming it is still there). Several years ago there was a massive mudslide just above Maple Bench Campground that totally wiped out the road. One could still make the long walk, but I sure wouldn't want to try it with snow on the ground.
