nube question

I hear about how slow it is still up at the Berry. I was wondering if there is no ice on the ladders would it probably be just a slow in the fresh flowing water? And is it jsut to cold , for some one to float it in a tube?

[cool]Just my personal opinion, but I think the reason it was slow at 'da berry last weekend was because of the incoming cold front (low pressure system) at that time. I'd bet the fishing has been better during this week up there. Also, Mud Creek Bay is about the only place (most people know of, anyway) that has safe ice, so it's been hammered pretty hard the past 3 weeks. My guess is that if you went somewhere else on the lake that has safe ice right now, you'd do better than those that went to Mud Creek last weekend. Just my .02. The Marina area should have safe fishable ice in a week or so, and there's other places (Bays) on the lake that are ice fishable right now...

Like Geoff said.... Mudcreek has been hammered, and most of the reports from the Berry have been from there. I preached this last year, and I'll preach it again. To catch a lot of fish at the Berry... stay away from the crowds. Right now that can be tough with limited areas to fish, but when the place is fully capped, don't stick with the crowds in the marina.

I agree with Flycasting. I got just a couple hundred yards away from people a few trips last year and was hammering them while everyone else had so-so success.

Thanks ofr all the info guys. I appreciate it. I am looking forward to getting out and trying icefishing. I have never done it. For some reason the thought of walking on ice over deep water kinda scares the poo poo out of me. But yet i can go climb a 3/4 inch of ice on a cliff for 50 feet and that does not bother me at all. Go figure. As always thanks for the good info.

[] Like i have said a few times before, the first time I got on the ice you couldnt have gotten a pin up my @$$ with a jack hammer I was so scared, but keep reading the posts, and when the body of water you want to fish is safe, and the weather is good, or just after a good storm, hit it.

But as was stated earlier stay away from the crowds, even if they are producing fish, (unless its perch then use the same hole the guy that is catching the fish is using, LMAO) to much noise on the ice moves the fish.

If you have a seld or quad try to get as far away as possible, if you know the body of water well enough, and you have had success at certain location during soft water, try them again, they will hold fish, there is a theory that 70% of any body of water hold no fish. and I believe in that theory. I always say go with what you know. [cool]

Thanks for teh insightfull words. I wish i had a Sled or a Quad, but what i do have is a 95lb alaskan Malamute taht is just over a year old. I hay just hook him up to a pull sled, so he can burn some energy and i will just follow along for a nice walk and some good fishing.... After all the dog has to earn his keep some how.
