Fished the North end with 3M's, my bro Bill and Fuzzy.
We didnt arrive to early but the bite was strong from the get-go. By 10am. we had strong W's so the shanties went up. By 1am we had ground level white outs at times and the bite started to taper off. By 4pm the the bite had basically ended but the W had gotten worse with gusts of perhaps 60mph so we called it a day. Fish bit just about anything dropped tipped with the usual meat baits. Smaller Mac's, Splake and Bow's. M's had the most important catch of the day, a sucker to be used at a later date..
The main lake area is once again open water but there good fishable ice on both the north and south ends.

Great report!
Yeah, there's nothing like those white squalls on FL!! Especially when you're walking into them and headed back to shore!
Any ice near the FL lodge or Twin Creeks?
How small were the macs and splake? Tube jigs? Speaking of suckers, we've caught some there up to 14" which were quickly hacked up into hook-sized pieces for immediate and future use.

I was up there on 1-4-07. The open water was really close to shore at Joe's Bush. I drilled a couple of holes and the ice was about 5 inches, but it didn't get out past the weed line. Did you guys walk over to the east side? If so, did you walk out to the point on land and then go on the lake? Sorry to pry, but I go by myself most of the time and I don't like to take chances.

I didnt really pay much attention to the ice condition in that area due to open water.
Nope, no tubes for me. I spend the day taking fish on improved and sweetend Strike Backs.
The fish were mostly the common sized stuff..
Yeah a fresh sucker is a great thing...
