Hey yall has anybody been fishing with these new gulp minnows? I must say i have always been using soft plastics and also a lot of jerk baits for trout. Its just awesome watching the fish slam the bait like a freight train. Well I have been expiramenting with these gulp minnows this year ,and i'm impressed .They are alot more versitile than just about anything. You can rig weightless and twitch or deadstick them. Or slap on a light jighead and vertical jig or bump them off the bottom . They have a sweet action when ripped back .Twitch them through a deep hole in a river and thier money!(especialy with browns)Well here are a couple of pics all were caught with gulp minnows this year
P.s. keep the package closed they will dry out and shrink a tenth thier size and dont leave hooks or jigheads in the bodies they will eat the hook

I use them occasionally, and like any bait sometimes they work great and sometimes they don't. One thing (as you stated) that one quickly learns is to NEVER leave one on the hook overnight! They shrink to about 1/10 of their size and I have used quality glue that was easier to remove.

I've used them in the past, especially for bass, and has some success with them. Pretty cool concept as well...as you said, they have shrinkage problems!

Are these considered an "artificial bait"? Wondering if they can used on reserviors such as Daniels in Idaho.

Yeah I use the white ones for Ice fishing and usually catch more than the folks around me with them, also I tip them with a night crawler.
Why I just used them today at the Berry and did well.
Good success at Strawberry, Scofield and Currant Creek.

The little craws can be good for some 'fin'esse fishing. Remember to ziplock the package after you use them or they turn into rocks.

I've used Gulp for both trout and bass and actually prefer the Powerbait bass minnows. They're not nearly as much of a pain to take care of and the fish hit them just as well if not better than the Gulp where I fish. I know this is probably extreme sacrilege but they work on a lot of our trout waters around here. I've caught some nice fish on days when fur n feather slingers or dough/worm fishermen couldn't buy a bite.... thats a fun situation. [cool] You get lots of looks like this, [shocked] or this [mad] and when they're leaving the area, looks like this.... [unsure]. Meanwhile you eventually walk off with this on your face..... [cool] They're a great lure and while they're not the answer every time, they come pretty close to being as natural a look for baitfish as you can get.

I've used gulp minnows ice fishing. I've caught a number of fish while ice fishing with them. However, I wouldn't say I have done any better with the gulp minnows when compared with other jigs that didn't cost as much. They also don't seem to work as good a few weeks after the bag has been open.
The sign at Daniels clearly states that you may not use scented lures. The Idaho fishing regulations also clearly state that scented lures may not be used at "no bait" waters. A F&G officer isn't just going to give you a warning just because you don't understand the regulations. They are going to give you a ticket and it isn't going to be cheap to show up to court and pay your fines.
