OK, i've mentioned before about maybe looking into a new spinning reel. I decided to get serious about it, and boy has there been alot of different reels come out. With that said, I though i'd ask around before I made a decision as to which one I buy. These are some of the specifications I'm looking for:
1. Must be Super Braid friendly
2. Must have corrosion resistant guts, (prefer stainless gears and bearings)
3. Needs to hold something like 200 yards of 10 lb test
4. I would prefer a sealed drag system
5. I would prefer an all steel construction
I'm going to use this reel for light to medium saltwater fishing. Sheepshead, spadefish, schoolie barracuda, mackerel, things like that. Nothing too big, but it's going to take a beating. I might use it to drop a bottom rig on the reef, and the next minute chunk a rapala stretch to a would-be volenteer. I need a tough, versitil reel. Whatcha got for me fellers and ladies?[cool]

The Okuma Coronado is the only thing that comes the closest to what you are looking for. It also has the "Bait Runner" feature on it which acts like the freespool clicker on a conventional.
I have a collection of these because they are tough. I think you would need the CD50 model for what you are planning to use it for.
I use the CD30, CD50 and the CD90. They do take a licking and keep on ticking.[cool]

Well, I looked up those reels and they sure do have alot of nice features. So, I went ahead and ordered the very one you mentioned. I got the CD50. I'm just hoping it's not too bulky of a reel.
I also bought a Redbone spinning rod. I've never heard of a redbone, and I kinda took a chance on it when I purchased it; especially considering the Rod cost me 75 bucks. It looked like a well built rod though. It has Fuji Eyes, tripple wrapped, graphite construction, and it had a gimble butt too. I figured it would make a smart match for that reel. It's a med action rod rated for 20lb line. What do you think? Will it match up OK with that reel and the braid line? I'm going to put 30 pound power pro on it. It should hold nearly the whole 300 yard spool.
Is the spool on the cd50 long and shallow or is it short and deep? I'm hoping it's short and deep, I prefer a more compact size reel.

I just got a new V-System reel. I'm loading it with 50# test Power-Pro ( 12#test line diameter) and going for the big GT. LOL
They said the Salina series Okuma is good too.
Aloha,
Stan

I use Quantum Cabo 80's on my charter boat, they are great reels and come in smaller sizes. I use 20lb mono but they are braid ready, I get 250yds of 20lb and have taken AJ's to 50 lbs and biggest fish so far was a 6ft black tip shark around 100 pounds.

The Coronado actually has a balance between the two choices that you mentioned. It is not as big as the CD90 nor does it even come close to my Daiwa DTE 750. The Diawa is huge in comparison and doesn't have the baitrunner on it.
I'm sure you will like it. I use the CD30 quite a bit for surf fishing. I load it up with 10lb Cajun.[cool]
