Is the water at Loco all open?

The water stays open all year out there. The lower ends sometimes freeze, but the trout don't venture down there much.

From Logan, go to Brigham City, then head north on I-15 for a couple of miles, take the exit that heads out to Corrine, and follow the signs to Golden Spike NHS. Just before you get to Golden Spike, the paved road turns to the south, just keep going straight here. Follow this dirt (which is mostly westerly in direction) road for around 25 miles, it's an easy road to drive, a 2wd car can get there easily. As you come into the Locomotive Springs WMA, follow the road, which curves south and east, past the first pond and fish the north end of the second pond, it's called Bar M spring. There is an old chimney standing a little to the east of this pond. You'll see others out there fishing, so you know you are in the right spot. If you get the chance, there is an old cement foundation (????) on the ease side, that seems to be the best place to catch fish. Or there is a little penninsula that sticks out into the water that is another really great spot to fish. Let me know if you have any more questions. Good luck when you go.

Hey Killer Bee,

Thanks for all the loco information. I was wondering what the typical bait up there was? Do you use baits like worms and powerbait or do you use spinning gear up there? Also, what type of fish do you catch and what is the usual size? Thanks for all your help.

Power bait is what worked on Monday orange or green with a sinker about 15" above, couldn't get them to take a nightcrawler,in the past I have done realy good with a fly and bubble(wooly booger). The fish we cought averaged from 10-14" rainbows, they fight pretty good on ultra light pole!!"BIG FISH RULE"M.H.

It's like MH says. Powerbait usually will catch quite a few fish. I've never tried eggs before, but they may be productive as well. All of the fish are planters (except the carp of course) but they put up a pretty good fight, and are fairly tasty little buggars. Make sure you use light tackle, they will see the bigger line and won't touch your bait. Good luck.

Ive done okay on Power baits , caught my limit in a 2-3 hours, but the last 2 times ive went i had the limit in less than 30 with Salomon Eggs, I dont even get my line out and have a fish on, Caught over 20 in about a hour and half on eggs last time I went out.

Thanks,

Tyler

Okay I'll Let you guys in on the secret out there. it might seem like its a wierd idea but it works! Okay tie two flies onto your line space them about 18 in. apart and cover the hook with a little bit of power bait and put a clear bobber on cast it out and slowly real it in. we would go out there and catch about 50 to 70 fish in an hour! every cast we would have a fish on![Wink][Wink][Wink]
