Deer Creek
#1
Looks like Deer Creek will be boat ready this weekend. I fished last night by the Charleston Bridge, and as far as I could see, there was no ice. There may still be some in some of the bays, but by Friday, I am sure that it will be completely clear. So time to break the boat out and go and yank some monster browns. Probably a touch early for the eyes tho.

your right about the browns at ice off at dc. I've had some fun a couple of times. alot of the eyes should start moving and will hold up on main lake points as they move towards spawning areas.

I had the treat of flying into SLC with a great look up Provo Canyon on Sunday late afternoon. While all of the edges were wide open, and the river end of DC was wide open, there looked to be a rather generous float of ice still centered above the dam.

I'm sure the lake will be negotiable by boat this weekend, but I'd watch out if making a cross-lake run.

Also got a great look at Starvation (looked totally open) and Strawberry (looked awfully cold and solid all around).

don't think the eyes will be up there yet at least not in any kind of numbers. I've allways done pretty good for browns on the RR side casting count down rapalas. later chuck

Utwalleye,,, what is considered to be the RR side? I'm new to fishing deer creek. I've been to rainbow bay, and the big inlet on the sout side.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to fish Deer Creek after ice off?

The RR (railroad) side is across the lake from the Charleston Bridge or across from where the provo river comes into deer creek. The best fishing for me has been in the shallow waters, or along the banks for the big browns. If trolling , about 10-15 deep.
