Small open area at the inlet, pretty frozen over though. By next week I would expect it to at least 1/2 open.

How do you fish Little Dell? I packed my tube down there one day and threw spinners, Jake's, and some streamers, but never had a bite. I'd like to learn how to catch fish outta there.

[black][size 3]From fly fishing point of view, right after ice off, CHIRONOMIDS. About 20 to 28 feet deep.[/size][/black]

I went up to Little Dell today to check it out. There was no Ice what so ever. The wind was blowing and the inlet is running as little muddy but besides that It looked ready to fish.
I'm going up on Saturday morning(first light) if any one wants to meet me there. I'm taking my Kayak out for the first trip on the year. I will be walking the yak down on a little kart. The dirt trail going down has a couple bad ruts. Tincanfsh [signature]

[black][size 3]A Chrionomid is an early stage of life. Kinda like a pupa, But you will see shucks floating on the water. At Pelican, they were all over and HUGE.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]Think maybe larger Zebra Midges[cool][/size][/black] [black][size 3]I tie my fairly large with a #14 or #16 Nymph hook (I have tied them on scud hooks also)[/size][/black] [black][size 3]Put a Tungsten bead on (so it will sink quickly).[/size][/black] [black][size 3]My favorite patterns are 1st. Black Tungsten bead, Black floss body ribbed with white thin wire, a thin skin turkey colored wing case and Peacock thorax with small white para-post gills like wings behind the bead (I think this style moves great in the water.[/size][/black] [black][size 3]The other favorite is all the same, but I put a red tag on the bend of the hook and the body is Kelly Green Flashabou with a gold rib and gold or copper Tungsten bead (The Irish Spring).[/size][/black] [black][size 3]I fish one about a foot off the bottom and a second three feet off the bottom.[/size][/black] [black][size 3]Also at Little Dell a black bead, black floss, and RED thin wire killed last year.[/size][/black] [black][size 3]As you can guess, I have a float tube and a pontoon with sonar, so I can tell where the bottom is.[/size][/black] [black][size 3]Can't wait to try my new H3 out there.[ ][/size][/black][signature] |
