I talked to a guy that had been scuba diving at dc and he told me
he seen a small school of pan shaped fish that looked like black crappie in the wallsburg bay. I know there is bluegill in there, I caught one a few years ago. later chuck

[cool][#0000ff]There have been bluegills and green sunfish in Deer Creek for many years. I have heard rumors of crappies going back to the early 80's but have never seen one or had it verified by a "reputable" source. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]That is not to say that they could not be in there. They showed up in East Canyon and the bucket bozos have been active on Deer Creek. Every once in a while some one finds a dead channel cat that some jerk has tried to plant but didn't make it. I have even heard of bank tanglers catching a cat or two...but still unverified.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Deer Creek would be a tough place for crappies to make a living. There are already too many well established predators and a very limited food chain. The young would probably die out early from lack of food. This happens in the late fall every year at East Canyon and the trout gorge on the weakened and dying crappie kids. I imagine the smallmouth, largemouth, walleyes, rainbows and browns in Deer Creek would do a good job of holding a crappie population in check.[/#0000ff]
