Question for Strawberry Fishermen
#1
[black][size 3]I was working at my fly tying vice this morning, and posting this inquiry came to mind, so if anyone can be of help, please respond.

I don't keep trout and don't like pumping their stomachs so I don't have access to their stomach contents. Strawberry is one of my favorite spots to flyfish from a pontoon and would like to tie up some imitations of their natural foods.

If anyone has memory of what natural foods they have encountered while cleaning fish from Strawberry and what time of the year it was, would you please let me know.

Only natural foods, by natural foods, I mean minnows, crawfish, insects, not cheese, salmon eggs, or power baits.

Thanks

Chubs, red sided shiners (I believe), and craws.

With that said, I have done well with purple buggers up there. [Tongue]

Potguts (ground squirrels), don't forget potguts. Mice too. When the DWR published thier survey they found quite a bit of non aquatic, non insect life in their bellies!
