JUST GOT BACK FROM SPENDING 5 DAYS AT LAKE POWELL. SORRY NO PICS. BUT WE CAUGHT ALL THE FISH YOU WANTED TO FILLET. GOT ON THE HOUSE BOAT ON MONDAY. WE WENT UP NAVAJO CANYON. TUESDAY WE HAD MEETINGS FOR A HALF A DAY THEN WENT TO THE BOUYS AT THE DAM FOR 2 1/2 HOURS. CAUGHT THREE COOLERS FULL OF STRIPERS. MY WRIST STILL HURTS FROM FILLETING A 100+ I WAS GLAD TO SEE THE WIND BLOW ON WEDNESDAY. 50 MILE AN HOUR GUST. DECIDED TO HAVE MEETINGS ALL DAY WED. FISHED THURSDAY MORNING WITH FOUR OUT OF THE 16. WE CAUGHT WALLEYE, BASS, CRAPPIE, BLUE GILL, AND YES MORE STRIPERS. TOOK THE REST OF THE DAY TO FILLET THAT COOLER FULL. WAS ON A STRAIGHT FISH DIET FOR 3 DAYS. IT WAS A TOUGH JOB AND I'M GLAD I WAS THE MAN TO DO IT. WE HAD 2 28FT. DECK BOATS RENTED. ALONG WITH MY CRESTLINER. THEY LOVED IT SO MUCH WE'LL DO IT AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER. WE FISHED THE WEST SIDE OF THE DAM BY THE BOUYS. DID BEST ON ANCHOVIES WITH NO WEIGHT 15-20 FEET DOWN. IT WAS LIKE FISHING IN THE HATCHERY. TEAM LEADERS SAID IT WAS THE BEST TIME THEY HAVE EVER HAD. FISHED UP NAVAJO CANYON. WE CAUGHT MOST EVERY SPECIES IN THE LAKE. LAKE POWELL IS AN AWESOME FISHERY. THANKS FOR THE TIPS. P.S. I'LL BE HOME TOMORROW CLEANING THE RED SAND OUT OF EVERY THING. Yo Fish-n-Coach. They are stripers not wipers. And I didn't see no strippers. Darn It.
Cold footer if the cold front hadn't come in we would have been right on time. Tuesdays afternoon temperature at the back of Navajo canyon was 65ish. After some wind on Wednesday it dropped it all to about 58ish. But for the stripers at the bouys at the dam west wall just off the ledge the timing couldn't have been better. I can tell ya you would cast out 20 feet with your anchovies and no weight by the time your line got under the boat you would have another fish on. I'm talking about fishing with men who only fish once or twice a year. Once Ice fishing when I tell them it's time to go and once at Powell. Thursdays
catch came at the end of Navajo Canyon. Walleye, Large Mouth, Small Mouth, Blue Gill, and lot's of Croppie. We had a variety to eat that night. If any of you was wondering when the time to go to Powell would be the time is now. The fish are plentiful for the taking. Pikeman GO FISH
