If anyone likes bass fishing as much as I do I would get down to Quail and Sand Hollow. The BIG females are staging and the males are very aggressive. I didn't fish as hard as I usually do because I wanted my daughter to catch fish so I helped her, the fish gods were grateful. I caught my biggest largemouth to date, 7 lbs. 15 oz. A big ol' female FULL of eggs. 22 3/4 inches long and fat and thick! I wish I would have gotten the girth but we snapped a couple pics, weighed and measured her and hurried to put her back in the water. It would be at the taxidermist right now if she wasn't about to spawn. My six year old was very understanding to my amazement. Water temp. averaged about 56* at Quail. 55-57* at Sand Hollow. The bass seemed to be focused on the sandy, brushy ups and downs at both lakes. Jigs worked best. A shout out to my buddy Dan Smith at Sportsmans Warehouse who handed me a rainbow swimbait before I left for the weekend, it only caught one fish but it was the bigun'. I owe him one. Saturday was great weather in the morn but wind later on. Sunday the same but with rain. Fished SH in the rain then hit Quail on the way out from the shore, fish were still biting despite low temps. And all those times I said that rainbows make good walleye and bass snacks to my fly flingin' friends, check out the last pic, what I caught my big one on [
], yes that is a rainbow swimbait.
