Rainbows are found along the Pacific Coast from Alaska to Mexico, from Ontario, Canada, east to Labrador, across much of the Rocky and Appalachian Mountain areas, and in the Great Lakes region of the United States. They feed on aquatic and terrestrial insects and freshwater crustaceans, making them a prime target of the fly fisherman. They are exceptional fighters on light tackle.
