Sakatah Lake State Park boat access to make improvements
#1
The boat access area at Sakatah Lake State Park will be closed for the rest of July and most of August while the Department of Natural Resources makes improvements. During this time, boaters will not be allowed to enter the area, launch or land their watercraft. Boaters who want to access Upper and Lower Sakatah lakes should use the public access in Waterville or on Lake Tetonka.

Construction and improvements are needed to address erosion issues and to provide additional space for parking. The project will include removing and replacing the concrete ramp, paving the access road, turnaround, and expanding the parking lot.

"Although this is a temporary inconvenience, we feel that boaters will be pleased with the results that will significantly improve the launch area,"

said Kris Backlund, Sakatah Lake State Park manager.

Questions regarding the project can be directed to Kris Backlund at (507) 362-4438. Information about the reopening date for the boat access will be posted on the park's Web site at www.mnstateparks.info.
