Baker Dam Reservoir & New Castle Res. fishing report - Sat - 3-28-03

I got to Baker Dam at 6 am Sat and it was 19 degrees! ouch! I met all the fellas at the Veyo store and they told me last weekend there was 75-100 people out each day and nobody was catching anything .. everybody came out because it was announced that the lake was stocked . . . nobody saw anything jumping, nuthin . . no wild browns either . . . the guy i talked to lives close and said he hasnt seen any trucks or change in the fishing . ..



the lake is full, water spilling over the wall . . i quit after 3 hrs no bites, no signs . . i left about 9 am still only 5 people fishing . . . heres a video . .

so i drove to new castle to check it out, got there and it was still cold, and the wind picked up, making it really brisk . . but i caught a nice 12 inch fat rainbow after 10 minutes . . . kept casting jigs, spinners, spoons, nothing else . . .left after 3 hrs . . just the one fish . .



only one boat, and about 5-10 people fishing maybe . .pretty dead . .didnt see anybody catching anything . .. cold ! heres video:

one weather report i heard on the radio and weather.com says it will be almost 15 degrees warmer tomorrow!

I grew up fishing Baker. Did you fish up in the willows? I haven't fished there in a couple of years but am moving back to St. George in May. I used to catch a lot of fish in the upper end. If nothing else drop some powerbait in the deepest place you can find in the upper end. I hope it picks up.

last year i went prob 15 times, limit almost every time, also a 2# brownie before the water went down down down . . i dont think theyve stocked it yet, or maybe theres too much water . .who knows . . kemme know when you move back there and we'll meet up sometime . .
