Curse removal at Willard Bay today
#1
[cool][#0000ff]After our last three trips together, Swedishfish has been wearing the dark cloud of a curse. Weather has been sloppy and fishing has been less than stellar. After much begging and groveling (on his part) I agreed to go with him again. We smacked the heck out of that curse.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Couldn't have asked for a nicer day. Got to the north marina just after 7 and were both on the water before 8. No wind, air temp mid 40's and water temp at almost 49 in the harbor, warming a degree on the outside. The water clarity had improved some from Tuesday too.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Got a couple of whacks on jigs, casting while kicking out of the channel. Didn't get my first hookup until about 8:30...the first of about 20 cookie cutter kitties. Got everything on minnows today. Lost a couple of hookups on jigs, but only brought in a couple of carp scales.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Didn't take Ryan long to start getting hits, but it did take him a few "foul tips" to get some fish in the basket. He finished up the day with a nice basketful, however, and planned to invite those tasty morsels home to dinner.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Bluebird day, glassy lake until about noon, when a light westerly breeze came up. Few ducks flying. Only heard a few shots early. Did look up and saw a high flying fast moving bird. Took a picture. Decided it was probably a plane. Woulda had to lead that summagun about two days.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]We had the whole lake unto ourselves until about noon. Then, a solitary boater launched and idled slowly out past the farout hump. Seemed like he knew the lake pretty well. Don't know if he caught anything. Spoiled the whole solitude thing so we went in. Had limits anyhow.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I hereby pronounce the "Curse of Ryan" officially exorcised.[/#0000ff]

What...no Wipers? You and your cookie-cutter kitties!

Sounds like a super day, you two. You're lucky you can get out as often as you do. Gonna head somewheres this weekend, not sure where yet. I'm starting to hear voices in my head, it's been too long!

[cool][#0000ff]Nothin' but cookies again today. We tossed a lot of stuff besides bait, but no votes from the wipers or wallies.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Water is still cold and murky, and the deepest we could find was about 10 feet. Most of the predators are probably sulking on the bottom over in the deeper holes on the west side of the lake.[/#0000ff]

Looks like you had another great day Pat.

I think your on the money about the wipers and walleyes. They are probably sitting in the trench on the west side dodging falling steel. [Tongue]

[cool][#0000ff]I'd like to help, but I do not do "remote" exorcisms. I gotta be right there...on the holy water myself.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If you do the exorcism on Steve, don't worry about the head spinning around. He does that anyway...always looking for fish. And, the green puke ain't so bad. It's the toxic fumes from the other end you gotta stay clear of.[/#0000ff]

Thanks for the trip Pat!

What a great day of fishing. Awesome weather and lots of fish. As always, I learned plenty. Got some new rigging tips, fishing tips, filleting tips and cooking tips. I knew TubeDude was a skilled guy, but who knew he also did exorcisms?

By the way, the kitty krispies tasted great last night. Tonight we have catfish scampi on the menu.
