I use to throw the spook on my casting rig. but have made the switch to spinning. The action is much easier to create.

90% of my casting is done with a spinning setup. I use a 7' Ugly stick Lite Pro for most of my tiger fishing no matter the lure.[cool]

I'm throwing a 7 foot Phoenix 10 to 20 pound extra fast taper and a 2500 series spin reel loaded with twenty pound spiderwire. Stuff floats, so you can really slow down the presentation and not have it plunge underwater right when Mr. Bass is staring it down. They don't seem to mind the line at all. Also my Bass Assassin rod. Mostly my Jig and Pig rod lately.

That is pretty much the same set up I use. I use either 20# power pro or lately I have switched to Stren's Braid. I have a M-H bass pro Extreme with the stradic 2500 or 2000 They work for my fresh and saltwater fishing.

Have you heard of the Mega Ghost by Producer?

I am trying really hard to learn to fish with lures I find at Wal-Mart. Not because I'm cheap but because the stuff is so reproducible, anywhere in the country. I too was hooked on a hard to find lure, the Team Diawa Minnow. When first exposed it became a Magic Lure. When I wasn't catching fish on them I was snagging them. But they were only available in Japan at the time and were running about $20 to $25 a piece. And they would wear out and get bit in half and the bills broke. And so was I. I had to get off that habit. Wal-mart had a very similar bait(suspending jerk bait) that tended to tumble a bit in casting(Affects distance), but worked just as well for $5. And I can get one in Minnesota tomorrow or in Miami in June. I believe those Mega-Ghosts are a similar Japanese Bait. High grade finish, better hardware, nicer hooks. Fish still eat the Zara Spook and they sell them at...guess where?

Walmart and Dick's both carried the lure, but it is no longer in production. Every now and again I or someone I know will come across some. THey are usually in the bargain bin which is great cause we will pick them all out. I had about 50pc 3yrs. ago I'm down to like 6pc. It looks like I may have to resort to trying to have some made, or modifying a spook a little bit.

Those are pretty good at times. They are just like the spook and are in a few places in SoCal.[cool]
