Happy New Year
#1
[cool][#0000ff]Well, I made it through to 2008. At least I was not in the obituaries in this morning's Tribune, so I guess I am still here.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Took some time yesterday to go back through last year's fishing log, waters fished and species caught lists...and to set up my templates for 2008 fishing. Had a great year last year. Got to meet a lot of new BFTers and continued to expand my tubing knowledge and experience. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I'd like to thank all of the members on our fun little board here, for making the mod job so easy. You folks contribute a lot and keep things interesting. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Hopefully, I will get some time to go back through the last few months of last year's posts and update the Best of the Best lists. I know that a lot of folks refer to that and that it is very helpful for lurkers and newbies. Heck, I even have to check back on stuff once in awhile my own self. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I also need to update the "SHOPPING" guides for some of the different categories. It is a good news/bad news situation. The good news is that there is a lot of new goodies coming out all the time. The bad news is that it makes for more work to keep up. The mixed blessing is that our sport of tubing and tooning is growing and we have more commercial support.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I hope everybody had a great holiday season and that 2008 is a fantastic fishing year for all of us.[/#0000ff]

I am truely looking forward to meeting you both this spring? as well as the rest of all you experts from down under on Salmon Falls Creek Res.

I hope many from up here will come too.

[cool][#0000ff]We will definitely be fishing your little pond up there this year, and will certainly communicate well in advance.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Our tentative game plan is for something about the second week of June for a get-together. That should give us the best shot at some decent weather and the fish should all be in a post spawn feeding mode by then.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Keep us posted on conditions and fishing potential. We might want to back it up a few weeks if there is a warm spring and the fish get active sooner. Might even have to delay it if there is a lot of runoff. Sometimes better to let the runoff end and the clarity and water temps to stabilize.[/#0000ff]

May God bless all of you throughout the New Year and the upcoming season. I'm going to branch out a bit and try to involve my relatively idle spinning and baitcasting outfits. I love to flyfish so much that I often use the long rod for just about everything. This year I plan to check up on what I may be missing by limiting myself to the flyrod.

I caught some really big rainbows on very small crayfish plugs at a pay for play flyfishing club. (purist dry fly guys would probably have me banned for life if they knew) Now I'm excited to see what these kind of lures can do in the wild fished on regular tackle. Also it's a little much casting 1/8 and 1/4 oz. jigs on my five weight. (1/32 and on down are actually quite easy to use on the flyrod.) I've discovered that the heavier jigs need to be part of my arsenal when I'm fishing the 22 foot hole on my local reservoir.
