First Mods to my FC4
#1
Hope to get the tube wet tomorrow for the first time but I couldn't resist modding it a bit...

First off, rod holder. Simple but should work:

Next, I had to stiffen up the apron. You'll notice I foamed the middle cross bar for a nice comfy elbow rest. Still haven't screwed through the sides to fix the apron to the frame. You'll notice I inverted the bucket as well (originally the "flaps" went up to create a stripping "well").

Don't know if I'll get this part done tonight or not.

I'll let you all know how it goes!

[#0000ff]I have a suggestion on the apron. You have solved the "floppy" problem with the PVC frame. But, if you use a "T" connector at the upper corners, you can run a short length of PVC out through the fabric to help the end "stabilize" on the top of the tube chambers. This is what I do on my rigid aprons, and then I run stretch cord through the tube and put snaps on the end to attach to the top D rings.[/#0000ff]

That'd be good except for the fact that I'd have to sew D-rings on the tube. The SFC has those already there and the "noses" of the SFC are longer so the crossbar being at that height won't interfere with knees.

I'll see how much stabilizing I need up front today hopefully.

I'm only 165 so I'm wondering if it won't be rigid enough for now...

Appreciate any and all ideas though!
