So with the lack of extra stuff space (sweatshirt, land shoes, extra tackle), and the wet well behind the seat being somewhat useless, I built myself a parcel shelf.
I used an old campaign sign, but any corrugated plastic should work fine.
I was limited by the size of the sign I already had so the "grain" of the plastic is 90 degrees from the way I'd rather have it, but it's a good solid prototype. I figure most stuff under 10 lbs distributed shouldn't bother it.

You'll notice if you look closely that even a tail wake splash through the peek-hole in the back will be diverted UNDER the platform so your stuff will stay dry for the most part. Also, by using the dual-lock (heavy duty velcro stuff) this part will break down flat for travel.
