I'm back, new tube, and questions
#1
Hey ladies and gents. I'm back after a bit of an absence. Been popping in occasionally but not posting. Been fishing a few times this year with some good days and some good days with no fish to bring home.

Anyway, I went to Cabela's today to check out the clearance center they started and found a H3 in the bin that appeared unused (store guy said it was a display in the Post Falls store). So I got it for $200. Down side is that it is the tube only, no paperwork or whatever else they ship with normally. If anyone wants to post a list of what I didn't get, I would appreciate it.

I need to know what you other H3 owners are using for pumps. I have a double action pump that works fine for my ODCs, but all of the adapters are too small for the H-R valve. Any tips?

I need to go back and read all the H3 posts now, but I am pretty excited to get this thing out on the water.

Good Fishin'

the only thinkg you didnt get was a box and a small peice of tubing to go over a standard pump to inflate it with. I am knot home so I can not telly the saize of tubing but it is only about 3 inches long. Great Buy I still love mine. I use a pump i got at Wal-m,art for like 15.00. It works great. I hope you enjoy your ride as you got a hell of a deal.

[cool][#0000ff]Congrats on a good buy. There is really not much in the way of paperwork that comes with the H3. Also, no apron and no valve adaptor. Standard is a 3" piece of 5/8" clear plastic tubing that you have to squeeze down inside the valve and attach to your pump. Better to find a place that sells Outcast or valve accessories and get one of the valve connectors as shown in the attached pic. They come standard with Fat Cats and allow more pressure and an easier connection.[/#0000ff]

Thanks for the info. I'll check around the sporting goods and rafting shops here and see if I can find the adapter. Looks like if all else fails, a trip to Home Depot for some tubing will work. Gotta get some PVC anyway, right? [Wink]

All I got with my H3 was the shipping box, 2 of the valve adapter/connector hose pieces and a one sheet instruction "manual" that told how to inflate it. I bought the two way pump along with my H3 from the website and it came with about 4 different plastic nozzles that fit on the end of the inflation tube. I just use the largest one and fit the connector hose piece over that and insert it into the valves when I "top off" the pontube's air pressure when I get to the lake (I keep my H3 inflated in the garage). I also got a free apron when I bought my H3.

$200 was a GREAT bargan/find, IMO. I love my H3 and use it 2 - 3 times a week. Only problem I have is getting blown around a bit more than some of the other tubers who sit lower in the water than I do. I can live with that and with my Force Fins (diving model) I can move myself around pretty effortlessly anyway.

Let us know how you like your H3 when you get it out on the water. I also haven't suffered ANY of the problems some of the other members have had with their H3s when it comes to material separating at the valves or comfort issues.

I did some research online. Outcast is a product line of Aire, the maker of some first rate white water rafts and pontoons. They are a local company (Meridian, Idaho) and have two dealers here in town. They market the valve adapter, so I'm sure I can find it around here. The list price is only $5. Will keep you posted.
