Lake Mead monday 8/18 dusk
#1
Hit the lake with my kayak buddy Alex at about 7pm lastnight. Wind was up, but not howling. I got skunked fishing dead bait (sardines), but Alex did well throwing the X-rap around. He caught a Largemouth that went 1 3/4lbs, three stripers over 2 lbs, and 6 or 7 dink stripers up to a pound. Metered some big schools on the FF, but they didnt want anything dead. We anchored up when it got dark, and both fished sardines for a while, but no hits there. My first fishless trip since the big storm in july. Wind picked up about 8, and we called it a night. Off the water by 8:30.
While we were packing up, the moon came out, the wind calmed down, and the water got glassy. I guess we took off too soon. Looked light a great night to be fishing late. I'll get 'em next time.

[cool]Hey Whizzle, Nice to hear that they are hitting at dusk. I haven't been able to get out for awhile; possibly this weekend. Were you fishing in the same place? I got to try it there.

Hey Whizzle, that's a real shame. I think your luck would have changed. Everytime I fish at night, I have less luck when it's windy. It'll be windy all day, and then it will start to die around 9 or 10...that's when the fishing frenzy begins. Not sure why that is, but I don't do well when the wind is blowing harder than 10-15 mph. However, as soon as the wind dies down, fish on.

Best regards,

Paul
